The Beast vs The Samoan Destroyer, Round Two

In the main event of Great Balls of Fire, Brock Lesnar and Samoa Joe battled over the coveted Universal Championship. From the opening bell (and even before it), these two powerhouses fought to see who was the dominant force in WWE. It was a very competitive contest, but ultimately it was the Beast who secured the win. By doing so, he now has a seemingly clear path before fighting Roman Reigns at SummerSlam. This is assuming of course that an incensed Samoan Destroyer isn’t eager for more destruction.

Having come so close to winning the title, Joe is no doubt fuming over this latest setback. His loss came truly out of nowhere, as he had Lesnar locked in the Coquina Clutch just moments before the contest ended. Only the wherewithal within Lesnar guided him to victory, and even then he was very much damaged by his opponent’s assault. At the end of the night, it felt as though we had witnessed a small chapter in what may become a much grander feud. If this turns out to be an accurate assumption, then we as a collective fanbase will come to benefit from it.

Much like Braun Strowman, Samoa Joe would be an ideal fit for the Universal Championship match at SummerSlam. Better yet, why not make a fatal-four-way where everyone can shine in a much grander spotlight? The last time the Beast defending a championship in a multi-man match was at the 2015 Royal Rumble, where he successfully retained against John Cena and Seth Rollins. Given his recent string of dominance, perhaps it’ll take a multi-person match to finally take the title off him. There are certainly a number of superstars on the Raw brand who want to step-up and claim the title.
