A Familiar Foe Returns

Throughout the past several weeks, SmackDown Live Women’s Champion Naomi has combated the relatively untested Lana. At the end of all three of their matches, the Ravishing Russian was unable to make history. Meanwhile, Naomi continued to showcase why she’s more than capable of keeping the title. Now that her latest challenger has been sent to the back of the line, who can we expect to see step-up to the number one contender spot?

Examining the current Women’s Division, there are very few women available for Naomi to contend with. Carmella is in possession of the Money in the Bank briefcase, so she has no need for pursuing a title shot. Becky Lynch is in the middle of a mini downward spiral, meaning that she doesn’t have the momentum needed to be considered a credible challenge. Talents such as Natalya and Tamina Snuka are athletic, but aren’t viewed in a very bright spotlight.

Based upon these observations, only one woman is worthy of competing for the title at this point. That athlete is none other than Charlotte Flair, who has surprisingly been lost in the shuffle lately. Regarded as one of the best talents in WWE today (regardless of gender), the Queen of WWE is deserving of another shot at the championship. This belief is solidified when you consider that months ago, Charlotte and Naomi never had a definite end to their championship match.

The only thing we have to go on is that in order to become number one contender (at that time), Charlotte had successfully defeated the champion. Because of this, it makes sense that a rematch is developed between the two top women on SmackDown Live.
