NJPW G1 Climax 2017: 5 Best Match Pairings for the Finals
By Jay Sichler
3. Kazuchika Okada vs Tetsuya Naito
Two of the most popular stars in NJPW would give fans a really exciting final to watch. Naito has had a rough few months and could use a big match win. Naito lost his IWGP Intercontinental Championship to Tanahashi back at Dominion.
Naito would then be knocked out of the first round of the United States Championship tournament by Tomohiro Ishii earlier this month. So, it’s safe to say that Naito could really use a big win, and theirs no bigger than beating The Rainmaker.
The two have a history as the two were engaged in a massive feud earlier last year. The feud saw Naito win the IWGP Championship from Okada last year. However, two months later Okada would win the championship back from Naito.
The two have not faced one on one since their match last year at Dominion. The two share the title of being the leaders of two of the biggest factions in NJPW. Okada is the leader of Chaos while Naito is the leader of Los Ingobernables de Japon.
Their match could see a bit of a gang war take place outside with the members of their respected stables being the reason as to why Okada or Naito win the match. If Naito were to beat Okada it would set up a huge story heading into WrestleKingdom as he already pinned the champion this year.
The leader of Los Ingobernables vs the leader of Chaos could set up one huge final match for the G1 Climax.
