Broadcasted from Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida, the July 12 episode of WWE NXT.

After taking last week off, I came back expecting big things from this week’s episode of NXT. With Johnny Gargano finally returning and Heavy Machinery challenging The Authors of Pain for the NXT Tag Team Championships, this week seemed like a stacked card. Unfortunately, neither situation lived up to the hype that I had built for each of the events.

However, we did get a surprise (to me at least) debut from a former Ring of Honor star and some exciting news for NXT Takeover: Brooklyn. With lots to discuss let’s get to it!

In case you didn’t know, #DIY had one of the nastiest breakups of all time. After failing to recapture their NXT Tag Team Championships against the Authors of Pain at NXT Takeover: Chicago in a later match, Tommaso Ciampa unforgivably turned against his long-time friend Johnny Gargano.

The Psycho Killer throws Gargano into the entrance LED screen before giving him an over the shoulder belly-to-back piledriver off the stage through a table. The turn was as brutal as it was shocking. We can expect to see Gargano break his silence later tonight!
