The men and women of SmackDown Live prepare for yet another historic episode. With just five days left before Battleground, what can we expect to witness from these superstars, and how will that come to impact this Sunday’s event?
In the main event of last week’s episode of SmackDown Live, AJ Styles and John Cena defeated Kevin Owens and Rusev in tag team action. After the contest, the two teased a possible confrontation before choosing to celebrate the victory. Was this simply a throwaway moment, or are the two most polarizing stars on SmackDown Live set to do battle in the near future?
During the previous episode, Baron Corbin and Shinsuke Nakamura took part in a bitter brawl against one another. The fight had to be broken apart by backstage officials, which in turn helped to build anticipation to their impending match at Battleground.
Last week, Xavier Woods managed to defeat Jey Uso in a short (yet competitive) singles contest. With the tag team title clash between the New Day and Usos slated for Battleground, it’ll be interesting to see how the champions build some momentum ahead of the event.
After unintentionally interrupting Mike and Maria Kanellis on two separate occasions, Sami Zayn finally suffered the consequences. Smashed over the head with a vase, the Underdog from the Underground was left down and out courtesy of the “Power of Love”.
Unfortunately, Breezango have yet to identify the party that demolished their office a few weeks ago. Despite this, the comedic duo is sure to continue their search until those responsible are found.
At Battleground, Jinder Mahal will defend the WWE Championship against Randy Orton. Will these two superstars come to blows tonight, or will they save the carnage for Sunday?
