4. The New Day Will Interfere in the United States Championship Match
Sure, the New Day will probably win the Tag Team Championships off of the Usos at Battleground. They already won the rap battle and WWE is determined to run the New Day until their wheels fall off. What if they don’t, though? What if WWE acknowledges that the Usos are doing great work as heel champions and don’t take it away from them. Then, the New Day will have to find something else to set their sights on.
The Freebird rule is what allowed all three members of the New Day to hold titles that were intended for teams of two. The same rule can apply to singles championships, allowing two or three members of a team to hold one title.
This is the obvious next step for the New Day. They could easily have their toughest member, Big E, win the United States Championship from AJ Style and announce that they are all the US Champ. It would be a great SummerSlam Moment for the three of them hold up the US title and chant “New Day Rocks.” They can set it up this Sunday with the recently defeated trio interfering with AJ Styles’ title defense. A no contest will keep it on Styles, but also greatly aggravate him.
