WWE Raw: Can Jason Jordan Be a Singles Success as Kurt Angle’s Son?

WWE has thrown everyone for a loop with the big Kurt Angle reveal that Jason Jordan is his son, putting the former Tag Champion on the Raw brand. But can he be a success?

There were rumblings of possibilities of what Kurt Angle’s big reveal would be for this past episode of Raw, and him having an illegitimate son was one of the options mentioned. However, the name brought up was Chad Gable not Jason Jordan. These two have been compared to Team Angle since their debut in NXT, and many wanted to see the team paired with Angle at some point. In a way, fans have gotten their wish, but not in the way thought most likely. Jason Jordan not Chad Gable was revealed by Kurt Angle to be his son, a son he only recently found out he had. WWE is no stranger to pulling out insane storylines, yet this one as bizarre as it is kind of makes sense. Jason Jordan is the right age to be his son, as Kurt said it was from when he was in college. They actually do look alike and their abilities are very similar.

During their post-Raw interview, it needs to be said that both men sold this storyline well and their acting was very much on point. The chemistry is there between the pair, and going forward it should be interesting to see how it is handled. Whether the pair is heel or face remains to be seen, either could work. However, is Jordan going to get singles success as Kurt Angle’s son? Will this be what he is forever known as, or will this solely be a big stepping stone for a much bigger career?

One would expect that Jordan will be getting a mid-card push, it was evident from the past few weeks on Smackdown Live that American Alpha was going to split. Gable had some singles opportunities and he did extremely well. Jordan was absent from that, and it really wasn’t obvious where his potential career would go until now. Both men work magic as a team, in a singles setting the possibilities are endless. The talent is there both in the ring and on the mic, and now is the time for Jordan to prove his worth and take this storyline and run with it.

We don’t want to see a Kurt Angle clone, he needs to be his own persona but with a major rub from the recent Hall of Famer. Looking at a similar but also different situation, Seth Rollins singles career skyrocketed when he aligned with Triple H. He was paired with a person in power, was rewarded with some amazing chances and he grabbed those and out performed at every level. He was coming out of a faction, like Jordan being in a team. Who could have foreseen that Rollins would go from faction to cashing in the briefcase at WrestleMania and becoming champion in under a year? Jason Jordan has the same chance to rise the ranks aligned with his ‘father’ Kurt Angle and possibly be a contender for the Universal Title but on his own terms.
