John Cena Should Face Jinder Mahal at WWE SummerSlam

John Cena is back and is looking to take on the best, so why not have him go for the WWE Championship at SummerSlam against Jinder Mahal?

When John Cena comes back, you know that a title match for The Champ is looming near by. He does not need any reasoning to go after world titles because he is Cena. In fact, that is exactly how he got his title match with AJ Styles at the Royal Rumble.

So, Cena did not really need to beat anyone to claim a spot as the number one contender, but a win capped off with an emphatic AA through the table against Rusev should be enough to immediately put Cena in the world title picture in time for SummerSlam.

The only question here is, which title does Cena want to go after. Now that the Leader of the Cenation is a free agent, he could actually go after the WWE Championship or the WWE Universal Championship if he wanted to.

On RAW, the title picture is already crowded as is. There are the likes of Roman Reigns, Samoa Joe, and Braun Strowman eyeing for an opportunity to face Brock Lesnar for the WWE Universal Championship. Cena would surely be an unwelcome and out of place addition to that mix.

Meanwhile, SmackDown currently has no babyface ready to go after Jinder Mahal’s WWE Championship now that his feud with Randy Orton is seemingly over. AJ Styles is focused on regaining the US Championship, Shinsuke Nakamura is feuding with Baron Corbin, and Sami Zayni is feuding with Mike Kanellis, so that leaves Cena as the top guy to take on Jinder Mahal.

Cena has the ability to beat out the numbers game time and time again. No matter how much the deck is stacked against him, Big Match John always seems to pull it out. That kind of “never give up” attitude will definitely be needed for someone going up against the stable of Mahal, Khali, and the Singh Brothers.

Cena is also now a mainstream attraction for the WWE. So, by having him in a heavily promoted main event on SummerSlam, WWE will be able to draw in more casual fans to the product. This will also get more eyes on Jinder, Khali, and the Singh Brothers, which will help expand their Indian market.

This will also provide a big stage for Cena to finally break Ric Flair’s record and win his 17th world championship. However, I have a feeling that Cena will not be able to celebrate that win for long.

This win could set up and ambush by this new Indian stable, which would create a damaged and vulnerable Cena. Cena would then become wounded prey for The Lone Wolf.

Baron Corbin will be able to cash in on a beaten down babyface and easily put away Cena to become the new WWE Champion and a top heel in the company garnering massive heat from the crowd.
