WWE officially announced an injury to Bayley, with her status for SummerSlam officially up in the air.

On the latest episode of WWE Raw, Bayley faced Nia Jax in the 10:00 p.m. ET hour. This noticeably saw Jax toss Bayley, who took a hard fall and rolled outside the ring. She finished the match, but something didn’t look okay when she hit the mat.

Well, WWE confirmed any suspicions on Tuesday night, when they officially announced a shoulder injury to Bayley. It was noted that the diagnosis was “inconclusive due to the amount of swelling involved.”

WWE also posted a video of Bayley’s examination, which can be seen below:

This comes just weeks before Bayley is set to face Alexa Bliss, for the Raw Women’s Championship, at the SummerSlam pay-per-view. The show takes place on Sunday, August 20.

If the Huggable One can’t go at SummerSlam, then it sets up a situation where WWE may have to scramble to replace her. That leaves Jax, Sasha Banks, Mickie James, Emma, and Dana Brooke as options to face Bliss.

Shoulder injuries have proven costly to the Leader in Sports Entertainment in the past, specifically in 2015 and throughout 2016. John Cena, Randy Orton, Sami Zayn, and Cesaro are among the Superstars that dealt with an ailment of this kind, during that time, and missed a significant amount of action. They all returned and didn’t aggravate their respective injuries, but it put them on the shelf for anywhere from 5-9 months.

Bayley’s status isn’t concrete for SummerSlam, so let’s see what WWE chooses to do. That could be known by the August 7 episode of Raw, which is the second-to-last episode before the pay-per-view.
