The WWE Network will finally be available to a huge market of fans which spells big things for the future of the company.

The WWE will hold their first-ever live show in Shenzhen, China on September 17th. The company put on a show in Shanghai last year that was an incredible success and will likely lead to more events around the country. According to Jay Li, the Vice President & General Manager of WWE Greater China, “Our WWE Superstars will deliver an action-packed night of family-friendly entertainment that is certain to create memories that will last a lifetime.”

To coincide with this monumental show, the WWE recently announced via press release that the WWE Network will be available in China for the first time starting August 18th thanks to PPTV:

"SHANGHAI, CHINA and STAMFORD, Conn. – WWE and PPTV today announced that WWE Network will be available in China for the first time beginning on Friday, August 18, launching exclusively on PPTV as a subscription video-on-demand service featuring all WWE live pay-per-view events, including WrestleMania and the upcoming SummerSlam.PPTV customers can download the PPTV App and watch WWE Network content via smart TVs, set-top boxes, mobile devices and tablets, as well as on www.wwe.cn, www.PPTV.com and www.Sports.PPTV.com. Fans can sign up in time to watch one of WWE’s marquee events of the year, SummerSlam, live in Mandarin, on Monday, August 21, at 7 a.m. Beijing time."

Before the show in Shanghai last year, WWE held their first-ever open tryouts in China, so the company’s global expansion has been in full force. It goes along with their work in India, the United Kingdom, and other international countries.

China’s population exceeds one billion, so it’s a grand market for the WWE to tap into. The potential is there to drive up the WWE Network subscriber count and put the company in better shape. It may take a while to get this done, but the opportunity is there for growth and development of this streaming service.
