WWE made one last stop on the road to SummerSlam on Tuesday night. How did the superstars of SmackDown Live finish the pay per view build?

Previously on WWE SmackDown Live, the WWE Champion lost cleanly to a guy he’s beaten at three straight pay per view events. That’s not ideal. But what are you going to do, have the champ win?

Now we’re just days away from SummerSlam. Everything that took place on SmackDown this week had huge implications for the Biggest Party of the Summer. Champions faced off with their challengers. New matches were finalized. Questions were asked – and answered. And we made out final trip to Fashion Peaks.

The advertised main event of the evening? WWE Champion Jinder Mahal would face off against John Cena in a non-title match. The 16-time world champ missed out on a title match at SummerSlam, so he gets a consolation

match instead just before SummerSlam.

The other big story on SmackDown Live surrounds the United States Championship. AJ Styles is set to defend the title against New Face of America Kevin Owens at SummerSlam. Last week, AJ accidentally hit Commissioner Shane McMahon with a Pele kick – doubly bad since Shane-O-Mac is the guest referee on Sunday. Styles wanted to clear the air with Shane tonight. How did it go?
