WWE SummerSlam 2017: Potential Spoiler for the Main Event Match
If Brock Lesnar loses the WWE Universal Championship at SummerSlam, he’ll leave the company. However, the Barclays Center may have just spoiled the impending result.
The main event of the WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view will see Brock Lesnar defend the Universal Championship against Roman Reigns, Braun Strowman, and Samoa Joe. If Lesnar loses, he’ll leave the WWE, which makes for an intriguing stipulation, as long as his future plans don’t get spoiled.
On Wednesday afternoon, the Barclays Center, site of Sunday’s SummerSlam and Monday’s Raw, tweeted that “Universal Champion” Lesnar will be on the Flagship Show on August 21. That would mean he wins the main event and retains the Universal Championship.
So much for surprises, right?
For some, it may be disappointing to see the result of SummerSlam spoiled, if this proves true. Sunday’s show is considered one of WWE’s biggest PPVs of the year, so it could take the air out of the closing match for those that see this promotion from the Barclays Center.
However, if there were fans that wanted to see Lesnar remain in the WWE, then it will satisfy them. It will come amidst speculation of his return to the UFC, something that seemingly wouldn’t happen yet, as he’s under contract to the WWE until WrestleMania 34 in April 2018.

Before this becomes official, the main event still needs to take place on Sunday evening. Plans can always change, but this tweet may be indicative of what’s to come in the headliner match. Will fans see Lesnar on the August 21 episode of Raw?
