Welcome to the Smackdown Rankings before WWE SummerSlam.

These are the power rankings for each division on Smackdown Live for this following week. Each division would be ranked based on storyline progression and win/loss record as of 2017. Also each division would be divided by contenders and pretenders, to differentiate the challengers in their respective division. I’ll also highlight a specific superstar in each division and explain their ranking based on their actions. Win/Loss record is provided by CageMatch.Net.

Each superstar or tag team can move up or down the rankings based on victory, defeat or storyline progression. Let’s get right to the rankings.

The SmackDown Live Women’s Division

Highlights of the Division

Natalya picked up a huge win over Becky Lynch on Smackdown Live days before her title match at Summerslam. Her chase for the gold hasn’t been properly advertised on Smackdown for nearly a month which is clearly disappointing. This title match between Naomi and Natalya at Summerslam clearly doesn’t have a favorite on who would walk out with the championship. It would be fitting for Natalya to beat Naomi in the greatest moment of her career. But the issue is that if Natalya or Naomi win that title match, they have another major issue to deal with.

Carmella will walk out of Summerslam as the Smackdown Women’s Champion. It seems like a foregone conclusion she’ll cash in after announcing her plan on Smackdown Live.  The Princess of Staten Island has sat on the sidelines for weeks now and after defeating Naomi last week on Smackdown, she is more than ready to be the champion now. The WWE has an amazing opportunity to turn Carmella into one of their cornerstones of Smackdown Live. This means making her a focal point not only on the Women’s Division but also being a thorn to Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon.

Meanwhile, for the Rest of the Division

It looks like the partnership between Lana and Tamina has been presented perfectly in their backstage segment on Smackdown. Lana wants to manage Tamina and turn her into the next Smackdown Women’s Champion with her direction. It’s intriguing to see if the WWE is serious enough to give Tamina one more serious run to the top. As for Lana, it’s better suited for her to manage Tamina on the sidelines than perform in the ring. She’s always been better in that specific role than jobbing to the likes of Charlotte and Naomi in the past month.

Let’s see the rankings for the division this week.
