WWE SummerSlam 2017: The Real Enemy of Professional Wrestling Revealed

Cesaro destruction of a beach ball at SummerSlam had plenty to it.

It is very difficult for one to argue that today’s diehard professional wrestling fan does not have entitlement seeping out of his or her pores.  The blossoming of the Internet Wrestling Community (IWC) has turned any wrestling fan with a mobile device into an apparent expert with an opinion of the business that desperately needs to hit the eyes of all viewers of the produce.

Admittedly, there are probably many, maybe even including you, that may view us at Daily DDT in the same fashion.

We, along with the Dave Meltzers, Wade Kellers, and Bryan Alvarezes of the world, are certainly opinionated.  However, what we all have in common is an iron-clad passion for professional wrestling and a longing for the best product possible being given to us.

Despite our opinions, albeit misguided at times, we really mean well.

We are not the enemy.  The enemy was sitting in the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York tonight at SummerSlam.  Some parasitic tapeworm deemed the middle of an excellent Raw Tag Team Championship match between The Bar (Sheamus and Cesaro) and Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns to be a good time to sabotage the show by sending a beach ball through the crowd.

The ball got as close to what looked to be about the third row hard camera side before making its way towards a wide walkway.  At this time, as the ball was apparently unattended, Cesaro jumped into the crowd and tore up the ball like Mark Henry tears up a Waffle House, vanquishing any chance of the architect (no pun intended) of Beach Ball Mania 2 assuming the lead role in the match.

The crowd was delighted by the actions of Cesaro.  In my opinion, they cheered not because some small victory was earned by distracting Cesaro from the match, but due to the fact that he snuffed out the plight of the true enemy of professional wrestling, especially that of the WWE product.

We “keyboard warriors” may live to play devil’s advocate to the WWE creative team, but again, at the end of the night, we are passionate about receiving the best product possible.  All we wish to do, as longtime appreciators of professional wrestling (Why else would we write about it?), is ask “Vince, did you think about this?  Couldn’t this be better?”

We just want to be thoughtful consultants.  We are going to watch and write regardless of who listens because we are fans.

We are not the enemy.

The enemy is the sophomoric dunce, and those like him or her, who got a great match, but did not get Okada/Omega III, so decided to attempt to leave Vince McMahon and his empire with egg on its face.  This person, who will claim to be a fan of wrestling, proved to be the antithesis of a fan by attempting to throw four premier performers under the bus.

This person is the enemy, and is anything but a fan.  Bravo, Cesaro.
