John Cena, Roman Reigns Go Face-to-Face on WWE Raw (video)
One night after WWE SummerSlam. John Cena officially joined the Raw brand, but got welcomed by Roman Reigns.
When John Cena returned to the WWE on July 4, he was labeled a “free agent.” That meant he was no longer exclusive to SmackDown Live, the show he was part of for the past year. It allowed him to move to Raw, but this didn’t happen yet, until Monday night.
At the 9:00 p.m. ET hour of Raw, General Manager Kurt Angle entered the venue with a surprise announcement. He told the Barclays Center that Cena is here and brought him out.
The Face That Runs the Place said Angle asked him at SummerSlam if he would come to Raw. He said “yes,” because he’s wanted to return to the Flagship Show for a long time, due to wanting to go face-to-face with a “certain WWE Superstar.”
Out came Roman Reigns.
Cena said this was who he wanted, and Reigns called him out for the past tweets. They immediately dropped the microphones and looked for a fight, until The Miz came out. Samoa Joe followed.
It’s the first tease toward a potential match between Reigns and Cena, arguably the two biggest names in the WWE. They didn’t fight on Monday night, but down the line, look for it. WrestleMania 34 seems like an ideal destination for this to happen, and as the main event of the show.
