WWE SmackDown Live: Shelton Benjamin Returns (Video)

Shelton Benjamin returned to the WWE on Tuesday’s episode of SmackDown Live. What will his plans be?

In 2016, WWE teased the return of Shelton Benjamin. It came after the brand split began. However, an injury canceled those plans and he never showed up on SmackDown Live, the show WWE had him returning on.

Well, that changed on Tuesday’s episode of SmackDown Live.

In a backstage segment, SmackDown General Manager Daniel Bryan spoke to Chad Gable about Jason Jordan’s move to Raw. Gable didn’t want to discuss it, but Bryan replied that he brought someone in to help the former Olympic wrestler out. Kurt Angle promised Bryan he could sign one of his friends to become Gable’s tag-team partner. That person was Benjamin.

This was Benjamin’s first WWE appearance since 2010, when the company released him. Afterward, he spent time on the independent wrestling scene, as well as stints with Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling.

For Benjamin and Gable’s team, it will remind WWE fans of the former’s alignment with Charlie Haas, a fellow former amateur wrestler. What if WWE brought back the World’s Greatest Tag Team music for them? It doesn’t seem like something that would be done, but with the soundtrack not having been dusted off in almost one decade, could it be given a chance?
