Bobby Roode Debuts on WWE SmackDown Live (Video)
Bobby Roode made his WWE main roster debut on SmackDown Live.
At NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III, Bobby Roode lost the NXT Championship to Drew McIntyre. It ended his seven-month reign as champion, after defeating Shinsuke Nakamura for the belt in January. Nakamura debuted on SmackDown Live a short time later.
Well, Roode followed that up after his title loss.
On Tuesday’s episode of SmackDown Live, Aiden English came out to sing. He did for under a minute, until the lights went out and a piano sound played. This led to “Glorious Domination” playing and Roode appearing at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.
The crowd reaction was electric for Roode, who competed at the Barclays Center in the past two NXT TakeOver events, with the first one as his in-ring debut for NXT. They sang along with “Glorious Domination” as he strutted to the ring to face English.
Roode’s positioning on SmackDown Live will be interesting. With the drastic downfalls of Rusev and Baron Corbin, it opens a spot near the top of the card for the Glorious One. That could be a mid-card title opportunity for something near the main event scene but, either way, it should be an interesting ride for him on the main roster.
As for NXT, we’ll see if he shows up at the next NXT taping to get a title rematch. It wouldn’t be a surprise if he didn’t with SmackDown Live as his permanent home. That allows Adam Cole, who debuted at TakeOver: Brooklyn III, to immediately get into the mix.
