5. Shinsuke Nakamura
This is a matchup hardcore fans and even casual fans have been dying to see in the WWE. Ever since they teased a one on one match at the Money in the Bank PPV, fans have been craving more from the stars from NJPW.
However, Shinsuke Nakamura is so high on this list because it appears that he is already working a program with the current WWE Champion, Jinder Mahal. This feud could have ended at SummerSlam with Nakamura’s loss, but his match on SmackDown LIVE with the Singh brothers indicates that he is not finished with Mahal just yet.
Sure, Nakamura could just get his rematch against Mahal on an episode of SmackDown Live, but it looks like they are planning to prolong the feud until at least the next SmackDown exclusive PPV.
Besides, a match like Styles vs. Nakamura deserves a bigger platform and perhaps a more prestigious title. My bet would be on Styles and Nakamura performing against one another at WrestleMania 34 for the WWE Championship.
Nakamura and Styles is a matchup that WWE will continue to tease, but do not expect it to happen sooner rather than later. It is bound to happen eventually, but I would not say that Nakamura is next in line for Styles’ US Championship.
