WWE NXT: Stock Watch for September 6

Here are the winners and losers from WWE NXT this week.

Even if it’s only an hour long, WWE NXT has its fair share of winners and losers. Some look good in defeat, some lose ground if they’re not really doing anything, and others just tread water.

Here, we’ll look at a few superstars who are seeing their stock in NXT rise. We’ll also examine one who may be falling by the wayside a bit.

Stock Rising

  • Kassius Ohno

  • Hideo Itami

It’s impossible to separate these two competitors after their war this week. Although Itami took (another) loss to a high profile opponent, he took the fight to Ohno all night. The no disqualification stipulation really enhanced the match, as well.

It’s a shame that these two had such a good match on “regular TV.” Well, as close to regular TV as NXT can get. Since returning to NXT in January, Ohno has had just one TakeOver appearance, but his victory here should help his appeal and place in the card.

Stock Falling

  • No Way Jose

This one kind of hurts, and for a variety of reasons. First, I don’t think he’s in a story that befits him right now. While the Lars Sullivan end of things is amazing, I don’t know how well Jose fits the other half of the equation. He’s not the kind of underdog a Sami Zayn is, and he’s not the undersized competitor like a Kalisto is.

Second, I have done the biggest 180 ever on how I feel about Jose since his debut. Back when I was reviewing NXT on a weekly basis, I initially hated him, but he grew on me. Now that I want to like him, he’s getting walloped by a psychopath every time he turns around? Not cool.

Finally, it’s long been established by now that No Way Jose likes to have fun, but when push comes to shove he can throw down with nearly anyone. It seems like the whole purpose of the Sullivan gimmick here is to 1) get Lars over as a monster, and b) show that Jose can do something besides dance. Right now, this program isn’t doing a thing for Jose in my opinion.
