There’s a reason gambling sites are cautious with wrestling, mainly because people with backstage knowledge can earn a fortune, like this WWE insider.

Being a predetermined sport can be beneficial in many ways, however, it can also be costly – especially for gambling sites. As well all know, the WWE is fixed, which means some insiders with backstage knowledge are able to get their hands on the results of a pay-per-veiw, before the matches have even happened.

The lucky insider, who hasn’t be named, was given the match results in advance for SummerSlam 2017. Luckily for him, the WWE didn’t change any results at the last minute – like they sometimes do – and every single ‘prediction’ was correct. The WWE insider placed a $3.36 ten-match accumulator, and won an astonishing $45,600.

And now, according to The Wrestling Observer, gambling sites are now considering dropping the WWE as an option to bet on. The report also states that it’s only a few insiders that know all the correct results, however, because of them, betting sites could potentially lose a ton of money – if not stopped.

The Observer continues by mentioning that several WWE wrestlers often bet on match outcomes, which forces betting sites to change their odds to the correct results. This is why wrestling news sites and fans are able to predict the results, before they have happened, because the betting odds quickly jump in favour of the victor, a few hours before the show begins. However, at this point, the odds are worthless. That’s why having the results before they change is key.

It makes perfect since why betting sites would remove the WWE as a betting option. A betting company’s sole purpose is to take your money, however, if you know the results, and therefore know who’s winning, betting sites can’t stop you from taking their money. So sadly, if you enjoy making a few small bets on your favourite Superstar, unfortunately, that may no longer be an option. Which in the long term, depending on how good you are predicting results, may be a good thing.
