WWE SmackDown: Check Out AJ Styles’s Awesome Mask (Photo)

AJ Styles is the man who helped built WWE SmackDown Live, and the current United States Champion showed off a new look at a house show in Japan.

Before he signed with WWE and debuted at the Royal Rumble, AJ Styles was one of the hottest wrestlers in New Japan Pro Wrestling. Recently, at a house show in Osaka, Japan, AJ Styles gave the crowd something special by donning a sick mask, and we can only hope that the face of WWE SmackDown Live gets to use this ring gear again at some point.

Below are some photos that fans uploaded to Twitter of Styles’s “too sweet” mask (hat tip to Ringside News’s Steve Carrier).

Now this mask is just awesome, and he wore it in a title defense match against Kevin Owens for the United States Championship. Even though it’s a house show, I’m surprised Styles didn’t work against Owens, because KO is currently in a feud with Shane McMahon that is scheduled to culminate in a Hell in a Cell match at the upcoming SmackDown Live Pay Per View. After losing his most recent match to Styles, Owens supposedly lost all of his chances to recapture the US Title, but apparently that doesn’t include house shows.

On some level, it does make sense, because Styles and Owens have worked together frequently, and it’s important to find a spot for Owens on a house show. Jinder Mahal may be the WWE Champion, but Owens is clearly the top heel on “The Blue Brand”, seeing how he just made Vince McMahon bleed out in Las Vegas on live television.

As for Styles, he has a feud with Baron Corbin on top, and it will be interesting to see if Corbin, who lost his Money in the Bank briefcase last month, eventually snags that title.
