An Empress and a Rebel

Raw‘s top-heavy Women’s division hasn’t slowed down since the Superstar Shake-up. Swapping Charlotte for Alexa Bliss, the division remains strong with the likes of Bayley, Sasha and Nia Jax. That makes life difficult for Emma, who has to leapfrog tough competition to get to the belt.

That competition however, could go into overdrive.

Asuka recently left developmental as an undefeated NXT Women’s Champion. While WWE screwed up Charlotte’s PPV winning-streak, expect that to be the focus of Asuka’s booking when she arrives on Raw. That doesn’t bode well for any of Raw’s female competitors, least of all Emma. She seems destined to be an introductory feud for Asuka, beginning her main roster run with a credible victory.

Then there is Paige and her potential comeback. She and Emma played a major role in developing the women’s scene in NXT, though only Paige really got any credit. She went off the rails with her injury and personal issues, but she looks to be on the mend, with a return to the ring in mind.

Some sort of interaction, be it teaming up or clashing, between Paige and Emma would be a pleasant reminder of their hard work. But more than likely, the former Divas Champion will look above her at Bliss, Bayley and Banks.

While Emma’s inclusion in No Mercy’s match puts her squarely at number five on the depth chart, expect that to drop to six or seven. With even more firepower coming to Raw, it cuts into Emma’s already slim chances on Sunday.
