Bayley returns at WWE No Mercy 2017 to stake her claim to the RAW Women’s Championship
Tonight is the night, WWE No Mercy 2017 will be presented live from Los Angeles, California. One of the matches getting the spotlight going into the event is the Fatal 5-Way for the Raw Women’s Championship. Alexa Bliss will put the title on the line against Sasha Banks, Emma, Nia Jax and a recent addition, Bayley. In the weeks leading up to the event, it was thought that Bayley would be too injured to compete. In a return to Raw, she surprised the world and got herself in the match,
Fans that are familiar with the product know that Bayley is the resident fun-loving, pure-hearted hero. Unfortunately, in past feuds, it has cost her in big matches. The lack of a bad bone in her body seems to be an Achilles’ heel to her career. She has the ability to step up when the time comes, but there are those moments when she falls short. That leads us to the million dollar question. Can Bayley pull out the “W,” when the lights are shining brightly at the Staples Center?
Bayley has the story of the lovable underdog that, in moments of greatness, has made her name. While in NXT she was known to be an overwhelmed fan who was star-struck. As time went on she would become more and more formidable to the point she began to climb the ladder. The Doctor of Huganomics would find herself at the top of the food chain, battling week in and out with the likes of Banks, Charlotte Flair, and Becky Lynch. These wrestlers comprise the fabled “Four Horsewomen” and ran roughshod over the NXT Women’s Division. Then the call came and Bayley went to the big leagues.
The dream becomes a nightmare on the main roster
On the main roster “Everyone’s Favorite Hugger” would see successes and pitfalls, but once again clawing her way to the top of the mountain and winning the Raw Women’s Championship. That’s where the story gets a bit sour. After losing the title, Bayley would see a string of losses in big-time matches. She was having no issue getting to the show, but once the lights were on, it just wasn’t there. Many fans are now asking more than ever if Bayley can still win the big one.
Fans saw this previously with Daniel Bryan – consistently making it to the top just to lose when a win was needed most. Bayley is very similar to Bryan, in that the fans want to be behind her. They want to see her do well and succeed because she is just like them; she’s a fan. She is one of us, she watches every match and promotion she can, and she loves the business. I feel Bayley can still win the big one. Sunday will be a huge test for her as she has four very tough and dangerous women also gunning for the prize.

Bayley has that spark that every true great has. That something that nobody can quite articulate into words but notices it’s there. She has the fan’s love, she has the skills that kill, and she is a world-class hugger. On Sunday night she gets another chance at glory and to prove why she is where she is. “The Huggable One,” has risen to the occasion in both NXT and WWE. Now it’s time to strap the boots a little tighter and show everyone, the fans and the WWE brass, why she’s there.
