The stylin’, profilin’ legend Ric Flair is quite a popular man among NFL stars, and Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Mohamed Sanu is paying tribute to “The Nature Boy” with his gameday cleats.
WWE legend Ric Flair kicked out of death before the three-count the way only he can, and the 16-time champion has been recovering since then. Flair is the greatest professional wrestler of all-time, and the kiss-stealin’, wheelin’n’dealin’ son of a gun is just as popular among NFL players as he is among the WWE Universe.
Before today’s big game against Tyrod Taylor and the 2-1 Buffalo Bills, Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Mohamed Sanu is paying tribute to Flair by wearing cleats in his honor. The cleats contain Flair’s signature catchphrase “Wooo!” on the front with “Ric Flair” in gold and lit-up on the outside. The instep contains a jet logo that simply says “Jet Flying”. It’s a wonderful tribute to the GOAT, and the cleats themselves are the sleek red-and-black Under Armour ones in the Falcons home colors.
Hopefully the nod to Flair will help the Falcons start the season 4-0, as the reigning and defending NFC Champions are on a quest to prove that they can close out a season fully by winning the Super Bowl.
Sanu has been excellent in his second season with the Falcons so far, as the criminally underrated No. 2 option is averaging 53.3 yards per game through three contests. He caught his first touchdown pass last week against the Detroit Lions and will look to top his total of four in the 2016 campaign. More importantly, Sanu is picking up where he left off last season with a catch rate above 70%, so he’s modeling the same week-to-week consistency that Flair had during his days as a wrestler.

It’s always cool to see athletes giving the nod to “Naitch”, and Sanu clearly seems like quite the fan.
