Is there room for another gold medalist to take the WWE by storm? Absolutely.

Erica Wiebe, a profesional wrestler from Canada – who is the reigning Olympic champion in women’s 75 kg freestyle – could be heading to the WWE in the not so distant future.

The athlete clearly has interest in making her way to the Sports Entertainment world, as she accepted the WWE’s request to train at the Performance Center.

As well as winning gold at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, more recently, she struck gold again at the of 2016 Olympic Games. The young lady is a winner, which is certainly something a WWE Superstar needs.

During a recent interview with CBC Sports, Wiebe talked about her attraction to the WWE, moreover, how the Mae Young Classic impacted her view on becoming a Sports Entertainer.

"I was transfixed as Kairi Sane flew from the top ropes and battled against former MMA star, Shayna Baszler, claiming victory at the inaugural Mae Young Classic. I watched Calgary’s own Natalya Neidhart — from the famed Hart family — defend her Smackdown women’s title. By the end of the night I knew I had to try this out for myself."

As well as admitting her attraction to the business, she also admitted that professional wrestling is the complete opposite to Sports Entertainment.

During the end of the interview she was questioned on joining the WWE. She pointed out that while it’s common knowledge she’s working for the Tokyo Olympics, a move to the squared circle isn’t out of the question by any means.

"As for the WWE, everyone there knows I’m committed to Tokyo but they have left the door open for me to try again after the Summer Games. Will it lead to a life in professional wrestling? Only time will answer that question."

During the video of her training at the WWE PC, she further mentions that training in-ring “was better than anything” she’s done in her life in terms of intensity and physicality.

Firstly, if she can set herself a solid gimmick, then secondly, show charisma when performing on the Sports Entertainment stage, she could most definitely be a big player for the WWE.

She’s got the athletic ability, it’s just the character development that’s needed. If she joins, and nails her character, we could have a female Kurt Angle on our hands.
