WWE: Kevin Owens Comments On Vince McMahon Segment
By Harry Austen
Former WWE United States Champion Kevin Owens recently appeared in an Attitude Era-esque segment with Vince McMahon. And he loved every minute of it.
The WWE have done a fantastic job of building up Kevin Owens, moreover, building up his feud against SmackDown Live GM, Shane McMahon.
One the big turning points for the feud came when Owens had a physical altercation with Vince McMahon; laying out the WWE chairman with a brutal head-butt and a continued assault. Stephanie McMahon even appeared following the attack, for better or worse, and made the altercation feel all the more real.
Owens will face Shane McMahon tonight at the Hell In A Cell event, in a cell, no less. As I just mentioned, the feud has been a well built one, with both men showing courage and that ‘something to prove’ mentality. The match should be stellar, as Owens has a knack for pulling off great matches, and Shane McMahon, well, he’s Shane McMahon.
In storyline, Kevin Owens seemed very proud of beating up the boss, and in reality, he also seems very proud; however, for a very different reason.
During a recent interview with ESPN, Owens – out of character – talked about his respect for the WWE CEO. He mentions that the segment will go down as one of his all time favourites, as well as saying that he’s been obsessed with Vince for years.
"“There’s a lot of things in my WWE career I’m very proud of, things I accomplished that not many people get to live out in their careers. I’ve done it in a relatively short period of time, so that’s really cool. But being in the ring with Vince McMahon and the ensuing situation there was definitely at the top of the list of things I’ll look back on when I’m older and I’m not wrestling anymore. When I was 11 years old, I started watching WWE. He’s been the figurehead of this company. He’s been the man behind the thing I was obsessed with for years and years and years.”"
I mean, I’ve got respect for any on-air personality to take a wicked head-butt from Owens, let alone a 72 year old billionaire – who really didn’t have to take the bump in the first place.

Kevin Owens was clearly ecstatic about being involved in a segment with McMahon, and why shouldn’t he be. Not may Superstars get the chance to beat up Vince. Nor, do they get the chance to get the upper hand against a McMahon.
