WWE Rumors: Jinder Mahal’s Next Opponent Following Hell In A Cell
By Harry Austen
Following a relatively comfortable win over Shinsuke Nakamura at last night’s WWE Hell In A Cell, what’s next for The Modern Day Maharaja?
As just mentioned, Jinder Mahal faced off against Nakamura in a SummerSlam rematch at the most recent WWE Hell In A Cell pay-per-view. And, it wasn’t great. So far, I haven’t been all that impressed with Mahal. In ring he’s been average, and on the microphone, he’s been at best controversial, and at worst, embarrassing.
With all that being said, Nakamura also hasn’t lived up to the hype. After joining SmackDown Live, he quickly positioned well on the roster, scoring pin-fall wins over Randy Orton and John Cena, then starting his on-going feud with Mahal for the WWE Championship. However, his matches haven’t been anything special. And if anything, his WWE Championship program hasn’t done him any favours.
The two haven’t got chemistry. And it’s probably best, for now, that they both move in different paths. And according to Dave Metlzer, that’s exactly what’s going to happen.
On a very recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer speculated that Mahal’s next program could include AJ Styles [H/T IWNerd.com]. Meltzer suggested that this could be the WWE’s way of trying to get a good match out of Mahal. I mean, if anyone can get a good match out of Jinder it’s Styles, right?
This could also be the reason why the WWE have taken the US Title off Styles; to free him up for a feud against The Modern Day Maharaja. On the next episode of SmackDown Live, AJ Styles could easily ask for him rematch against Corbin, lose, and be done with the US title.
In all honesty, I think it’s a good thing that the WWE have taken the title off Styles. He’s the face of the blue brand, and let’s be honest, he’s worth so much more than the US Title. Therefore, I’m not against him feuding with Mahal.

However, if the plan is for Mahal to get constant clean wins over Styles, I wouldn’t be happy. If that is the plan, at this point, it seems as if the WWE are just using bigger names to get Mahal over (even though he’s the champion). Which is backwards booking. Hopefully, this isn’t the case.
