WWE Rumors: The Shield Reunion Won’t Last Long
By Harry Austen
On the last edition of WWE Monday Night Raw, The Shield reunited after a long period apart. However, will The Hounds of Justice be breaking up not long after they’ve just reformed?
The Shield is arguably one of the most destructive forces in the WWE of all time. Since their arrival, they have been a team made up of ‘brothers’, fighting together for one cause. This is a team that will win at any cost, causing destruction in their path.
The Shield has, and always will be, a team that you look back on with great admiration. They helped in changing the game for tag teams, showing that any member of the roster can come in and tear the house down, week-after-week. Which is exactly what they did.
After two lengthy feuds with The Wyatts and then Evolution, The Shield broke up. Well, Seth Rollins broke them up. After a beat-down from Rollins, and a further beat-down from Evolution, The Shield would no longer be any more. The former members went their own ways and became successful on their own.
However, after a few years of building their own legacies, The Shield are ‘brining the band back together’. The reunion narrative started with Rollins and Ambrose. Both men, who weren’t doing all that much on their own, started to rebuild their friendship. And soon enough, they joined together to face Cesaro and Sheamus and won the Tag Team Titles.
Then, more recently, they started teasing a full-blown Shield reunion. And wouldn’t you have it, now they are officially back together. On the most recent edition of Raw, the team officially reunited — talking out two thirds of The Miztourage, and Shemus and Cesaro.
Following their hero comeback, just in case you didn’t think it was legit, The Shield then came out again to attack Braun Strowman, putting him though a table for good measure, in true Shield style. The three members made it clear – through the fist-bump, The Shield-esque power bomb, and their whole demeanor – that this was official. The question now, however, is how long will it last?
According to Cageside Seats’s Rumour Roundup, not very long. They pass along a rumor that The Shield isn’t expected to last beyond the end of the year. Meaning, that following the TLC event, the group could have one last match at Survivor Series and be done with the reunion.
If it wasn’t already a given, this proves that the WWE are doing everything in their power to get Roman Reigns over. Their last hope is reuniting The Shield, for a short while, will boost the crowd reaction for his rematch against The Beast at WrestleMania 34.
Next: Why The Shield Reunion Isn’t For Everyone
If the latter is true, which it is likely is, The Shield reunion should serve as a last ditch attempt to help get Reigns a good crowd reaction. Which really does raise the question, if the WWE are going through all trouble to get Reigns over, is he really the guy they should be positioning to be the face of the company?
