WWE Rumors: Brock Lesnar vs. Finn Balor at Royal Rumble 2018?

Finn Balor, who is currently involved in a storyline with Bray Wyatt, is set for a much bigger feud down the line, which will culminate in a match at the WWE Royal Rumble.

If you would have told me last year that this Sunday at WWE TLC we’d be seeing a Halloween faced Demon face off against Bray Wyatt in drag, I’d have laughed. And now, well, I’m laughing, but for the wrong reasons.

The feud between The Demon and The God has been going on for far too long. The introduction of Sister Abigail made things seem more interesting, but after finding out that Wyatt will in fact be playing the female character, it hasn’t looked good. The constant repetitive promos from both Superstars have done neither any favours, and the matches really haven’t made me want more. All in all, it’s been a waste of two very talented individuals.

However, there may be some positive (or negative depending on which way you look at it) news for Balor. During today’s (October 19th) edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer speculated that the rumoured match for Brock Lesnar at the 2018 WWE Royal Rumble is against Finn Balor.

Meltzer also noted that WWE have been pushing for the match to take place, which is why you’ve seen Balor make mention of Lesnar in a handful of his recent promos. Furthermore, Meltzer said that Lesnar is booked for the Rumble, but as of this moment, not booked for anything in February.

I may be in the minority (along with Joe Soranio) when I say that I don’t want Lesnar facing Balor. All signs point to The Beast and The Guy squaring up at WrestleMania 34, and the man who’s calling the shots, Vince McMahon, has had his arm aimed in that direction since last years ‘Mania. So I don’t expect the match to change.

What this means is that we’ll most probably be getting a Lesnar squash match – or something similar. Lesnar won’t be dropping the title so soon to ‘Mania, moreover, he’ll most definitely need as much fuel as possible to hype up the match against Reigns, making a one F5 finish the most likely outcome. And that’s certainly something I don’t want to see.

But who knows, maybe we’ll get The Demon in a dress and he’ll pin Lesnar one-two-three in the middle of the ring? I honestly don’t know anymore!
