WWE Rumors: AJ Styles vs. Finn Balor At Survivor Series 2017?

Fresh off of a scintillating match at TLC that delivered on expectations, could Finn Balor and AJ Styles face off against each other at WWE Survivor Series 2017?

We are fully expected to witness a WWE Survivor Series 2017 card that is full of SmackDown vs. Raw matchups, perhaps with a few five-on-five matches that are similar to last year’s bouts. In 2016, we also saw Brian Kendrick defend his Cruiserweight Championship against Kalisto, and The Miz did the same with his Intercontinental Championship against Sami Zayn.

Sadly, neither Finn Balor nor AJ Styles have a title on their hands, but they could still make sense as opponents at Survivor Series. According to Cageside Seats’s rumor section there’s a rumor floating around that Styles and Balor could have a match at the “Big Four” pay per view.

Both Balor and Styles are former Bullet Club leaders, and Balor just defeated “The Phenomenal One” at TLC in an impromptu match. Styles replaced Bray Wyatt, who is out with a serious illness, at the last second, but you wouldn’t have guessed it based on the masterpiece that the two put together. Yet, you also got the feeling that Styles and Balor are capable of so much more in a singles match, especially if they were given just a little bit more time to work with.

Balor vs. Styles would feel like an even bigger fight at Survivor Series, especially since there are bigger stakes on the table now that “The Demon King” has one up on AJ.

Styles is ready to feud with WWE Champion Jinder Mahal, but the latter wrestler has already issued a Survivor Series challenge for Universal Champion Brock Lesnar. Now, Styles is one of the company’s biggest draws, and the WWE knows this as well as anybody; it’s why they trusted him to be the replacement for Wyatt.

That means Styles will have a match, but I would not get my hopes up for it coming against Balor. If they have matches in quick succession, it would be in a legitimate program. This match at TLC was meant as a surprise treat. Currently, Styles has beef with Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens, partially due to his respect for Shane McMahon after having faced him at WrestleMania 33. He was clearly upset with Zayn and Owens after Hell in a Cell, voicing those concerns, in addition to his desire to chase for the WWE Championship, on Talking Smack.

A match at Survivor Series involving Styles would also include Shane, KO, and Zayn in some fashion.
