Nia Jax has been missing from WWE TV for a short while, and fans were left scratching their heads to why she may have gone. However, according to a new report, we have our answer.

On Wednesday, Sports Illustrated’s Justin Barrasso released his Week In Wrestling article. For those unaware, Barrasso breaks WWE news during these pieces and more news regarding Nia Jax was involved in today’s article.

According to Barrasso, Jax was scheduled to face Sasha Banks at WWE TLC, however, upon hearing the news, Jax decided to walk. Clearly she thought that another clean loss to Banks would derail her momentum, which had seemingly been built through an on-and-off relationship with champion Alexa Bliss. Jax may have even been poised for a title win or a match with Asuka, neither of which would have been aided by a random loss to Banks.

The report continues by saying that Jax did in fact call her cousin, The Rock, asking for advice on what she should do after hearing the TLC news. The Rock reportedly told Jax that she should walk away if she wasn’t happy, which, she quite clearly did. Initial reports stated that she had taken a leave of absence, but apparently she truly did make a statement on the company.

On last week’s installment of Week In Wrestling, Barrasso also mentioned that The Hybrid Athlete has a ton of other avenues she can go down, aside from WWE. Unlike a lot of other Superstars, she’s found success in many other ways beyond pro wrestling – most notably, modeling.

Therefore, her threatening to move away from the wrestling industry wouldn’t be all that surprising. Moreover, the schedule for modeling may not be quite as draining as taking bumps 260 days in a year.

During the end of the report for Jax, Barrasso mentions that she didn’t have to tweet her displeasure to make a point, but rather walking out alone was a big enough statement to make.

So there you have it, yes, the 33 year-old did in fact walk out, but it remains to be seen what her future with WWE is.

The Samoan Superstar was set to be a major player for the Women’s Divison of Raw for years to come, slowly improving week-by-week, which is why it’s sad that it has come to this. It felt like she was really starting to build momentum going forward, and likely pick up the belt in the not so distant future. But now there’s a chance that won’t be the case, depending on how WWE responds.
