Last night’s edition of WWE SmackDown came just 24 hours after the blue brand’s all out siege of Monday Night Raw.

The WWE is in full Survivor Series mode already and WWE SmackDown has appeared to be the dominant brand in the company in the early stages of the buildup towards Survivor Series.  Last night’s SmackDown gave us further insight on what we can expect at Survivor Series in terms of team members as well.

There were several key points of last night’s SmackDown that will affect the blue brand not only for Survivor Series, but beyond the event.  Let’s take a look at five takeaways from the Oct. 24 edition of SmackDown.

5. Becky Lynch Needs a More Prominent Role on SmackDown

The Irish Lass Kicker Becky Lynch is one of the most talented performers in the WWE’s stacked women’s division.  She was one of the biggest driving forces in the initial women’s revolution that took the WWE by storm and has had a standout career in both NXT and on SmackDown.

But as of late, Lynch has not been on the same level she had been on in the past.  Lynch was the first-ever SmackDown Women’s Champion back in 2016, but over the past few months, she has not been enough of a focal point on Tuesday nights and hasn’t been in the SmackDown Women’s Championship picture.

However, last night’s SmackDown gave Lynch more of a spotlight heading into Survivor Series.  In a Fatal 5-Way match to determine which superstar would captain Team SmackDown’s women’s team at Survivor Series, Lynch got the win and will operate as her team’s leader in less than four weeks.  This isn’t a huge move, but anything to put Lynch into more prominence is a good thing.

Some think a changing of brands would benefit Lynch, but the WWE could easily have her get lost in the shuffle on Raw, especially with the added addition of Asuka.  Lynch has been a blue brand staple ever since the initial brand split of last summer and she should remain on SmackDown for at least the time being.

The Irish Lass Kicker’s newfound importance heading into Survivor Series could help her out tremendously in the future as one of the top superstars on SmackDown.
