WWE Rumors: WWE Giving Up On Finn Balor vs. Brock Lesnar Feud?
By Harry Austen
The next opponent for Brock Lesnar following WWE Survivor Series 2017 was rumored to be Finn Balor, however, according to a new rumor that may no longer be the case.
Saying that the rumor mill’s running wild (brother) would be an understatement regarding the future of Brock Lesnar his WWE Universal Championship. Since his last title defence, speculation has been everywhere.
The Superstar that was reportedly next on the list to visit Suplex City was Finn Balor, based on the names that popped up on the proverbial rumor mill most frequently. The rumors started, as they normally do, from Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer, who has constantly been mentioning that Balor will be next to face The Beast.
However, according to a new item posted on Cageside Seats’ Rumor Roundup, that may not be the case anymore. They mention that WWE may have “soured” on the idea of doing Lesnar vs. Balor, but there doesn’t appear to be a specific reason for it.
One thing they do mention, though, is that the decision to have Balor lose to Kane on this week’s edition of Raw could explain the change in booking. Clearly, if WWE were going to position Balor in the main event spot, they wouldn’t have booked him to lose to Kane.
Speaking of that match, even WWE officials were confused with the booking, as Balor lost cleanly to Kane.
In my humble opinion, the Irishman should be going nowhere near Lesnar, especially at this time of the year. If the plans for the WrestleMania main event weren’t as locked in as an astronaut taking off in a spacecraft, then maybe the match wouldn’t be such a bad idea.
However, as we all know – and have known for a long time – Balor isn’t the one challenging The Beast Incarnate at ‘Mania, and as such, we know if the two did square off, it wouldn’t be pretty. Also, another important note is the fact that Balor hasn’t lost using his Demon gimmick, ever. And do we really want his first loss in character to be a nothing match against Lesnar on The Beast’s road to an eventual loss to The People Champio– sorry, The Big Dog?

No. Therefore, I think WWE are doing the right move. Keep the first ever Universal Champion away from the Canadian, and once he’s lost it, throw him into the mix. I know Beasts and Demons sound very similar, but, trust me, they don’t mix well together.
