Impact Wrestling Has Negotiated With Ricochet

Ricochet will be the hottest free agent on the open market with his contract with Lucha Underground set to expire in January. Rumors have already linked “Prince Puma” to WWE, but it appears Impact Wrestling are also in the mix.

Whether it’s putting on an instant classic with Will Ospreay or telling a small guy vs. big guy story with Keith Lee, Ricochet manages to shine no matter the opponent. He’s one of the best wrestlers in the world today, and while some aren’t sold on his ability to cut a promo, he has all the tools to be a big star in the WWE.

Fans have been speculating that Ricochet could join the WWE in time for the 2018 Royal Rumble, which is a notion that has only been furthered by the rumor mill. Ricochet has reportedly told Independent promotions that he isn’t taking any bookings after January, and that, of course, has only stoked the fire.

PWInsider reports (via 411Mania.com’s Jeffrey Harris) that Ricochet has had recent negotiations with Impact Wrestling. Currently the second-largest wrestling promotion in the United States after WWE, Impact boasts a quietly improving product that could receive much more attention if run by better leadership.

Although it seems more likely for Ricochet to join WWE than Impact, it’s interesting to see that he’s been speaking with Impact. Seeing him work with the likes of Eli Drake, Johnny Impact, Garza Jr., and Bobby Lashely week-to-week would be entertaining, but it’s safe to say that almost everyone wants to see what Ricochet will do in WWE.

Since there’s already a report from PWInsider linking Ricochet to Impact, it may be only a matter of time for the WWE links to get stronger. Ricochet already proved his worth at NJPW, Ring of Honor, and other promotions around the world, so it’s time to see if he can pave a road to becoming NXT Champion and a member of the main roster in 2018 or 2019.
