The Nov. 14 edition of WWE SmackDown was one of the better SmackDown’s in recent memory with several important moments leading into Survivor Series this coming Sunday.
WWE SmackDown helped build intrigue for Survivor Series by shaking up the card with a title change along with a memorable ending to the show. The hype surrounding this year’s Survivor Series has hit an all-time high and the red and blue brand will battle for brand supremacy in a deeply-personal battle.
With the questions last night’s SmackDown raised surrounding Survivor Series, let’s take a look at five takeaways from the Nov. 14 edition of SmackDown Live.
5. Perceived Double Turn By The Usos and Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin Was Well Done
The Usos have established themselves as arguably the best tag team in the WWE today over the past several months. And despite being heels on paper, it’s hard to not cheer for a team as great as The Usos are.
The WWE might have helped those fans who are on the fence about cheering The Usos last night. In a one-on-one battle between Jimmy Uso and Chad Gable with Jey Uso and Shelton Benjamin on the outside, many would argue we were treated to a good, old-fashioned double turn between these two teams.
Benjamin acted as a heel on the outside while helping Gable get an unfair advantage and Gable’s offense in the ring certainly was heelish as well as his facial expressions. And when Jey got the win, The Usos celebrated as if they were now a babyface team. And heading into Survivor Series against The Bar, The Usos operating as a babyface team makes sense.
If the WWE universe did see a double turn last night between these two teams, it was well done and cool to see. Both The Usos and Gable and Benjamin could benefit from a change of pace and it appears as if we will see that change of pace going forward on SmackDown.
It’s hard to boo superstars that are very talented no matter how their characters are, and The Usos are well on their way to being a top babyface team on Tuesday nights while Gable and Benjamin are on their way to being a premiere heel team.
