WWE Survivor Series 2017: Samoa Joe Needs to be the Sole Survivor

WWE Survivor Series 2017 takes place in Houston, Texas this Sunday.  Team RAW and Team Smackdown are ready for battle.  Raw has a secret weapon, Samoa Joe.

With WWE Survivor Series 2017 just days away the feud between Raw and SmackDown is at an all-time high.  Last night on SmackDown Live, Raw returned the favor and dominated the entire blue roster.  At the end of the night, Braun Strowman was the monster that got the shine, but the red team has another hitman, Samoa Joe.  Joe has proven in his time in NXT and on the main roster that he is not someone to be reckoned with.  Sunday night can be a true statement for the master of the Coquina Clutch.

During the summer, Samoa Joe was running roughshod over the Raw roster.  He saw himself in multiple main events in a row and even pushed Brock Lesnar to the limits.  The injury bug would soon find Joe and cause him to miss time.  Since his return, he has made sure to not miss a single shot.  He brings a level of intensity to the Raw Survivor Series team that is truly needed.  He has that authentic feel that if you saw him at a bar, he’d be the last guy you’d pick a fight with.

During the assault on the SmackDown roster last night, Joe made his presence felt.  He was patrolling the outside of the ring just decimating anyone that came near him.  He also showed what level he can take his game during a beatdown of The Club on Monday night.  Joe fits perfectly with this team as he has a history with Angle, Balor and Triple H.  This will allow Raw to have a chemistry advantage that Team SmackDown doesn’t quite seem to have.

Being sole survivor can lead to bigger and better things

Now that he is back from injury and fully healed, Joe will look to continue his reign of violence over the Raw brand.  Sunday will be the first step towards his rise to the top as I believe he needs to be the sole survivor.  In years past being the sole survivor was like getting a rocket strapped to your back.  Randy Orton was the sole survivor for three consecutive years and it bolstered his resume.  Joe is fully capable of running through the blue team and carrying the weight of Raw on his back.

Joe had a ton of momentum behind him going into his injury and being the last man standing on Sunday will get the train right back on track.  Survivor Series is not just about the two brands going to battle for supremacy of the WWE.  What happens on Sunday will begin to lay the groundwork for the Royal Rumble.  The “Big Four” map out every superstars year.  If Joe becomes the sole survivor that will give him a wave of momentum heading into the Royal Rumble.

Survivor Series can equal WrestleMania

Leading up to the Royal Rumble, Joe can tout his being the sole survivor as a reason for being in the Rumble match.  Then another big win will give Joe a claim to a slot on the card in New Orleans at WrestleMania.  Now we are looking far into the future but to not sound cliche, that path does begin on Sunday night.

To get back on the streak he was on before his injury and regain his position on the card Joe needs to be the sole survivor of Survivor Series.  It will put him in a celebrated class of those that were the final standing members of their teams.  By securing the role of saving grace for the Raw team, Joe can also get himself back into the main event scene.  Survivor Series airs live on Sunday from Houston, Texas.  Stay tuned to Daily DDT for live coverage!
