WWE Rumors: Drew McIntyre Call Up Coming?

WWE NXT TakeOver: WarGames featured several breath-taking matches, and Drew McIntyre’s NXT Championship title defense against Andrade “Cien” Almas was one of them.

In shocking fashion, Drew McIntyre dropped the WWE NXT Championship to Andrade “Cien” Almas at NXT TakeOver: WarGames in a scintillating match that featured several innovative spots and heart-stopping near falls. The story both competitors told was brilliant, as it chronicled Almas’s rise to the top.

Before the match, many speculated that McIntyre could lose the title to Almas and be called up to the main roster, since the gallant performer doesn’t have much to prove on NXT. It appears that is the case, given the fact that he was scripted to lose despite speculation of plans changing due to an injury.

According to Cageside Seats’s rumor section, there is “speculation” that McIntyre could be called up to the WWE main roster in the near future, pending his recovery from a potential biceps tear. McIntyre may have torn his bicep during the finish of the match, which involved Almas hitting him with  hammerlock DDT from the top rope.

There is absolutely no doubt that McIntyre is ready for a second, more prosperous run on the main roster. The man is one of the most bad-ass wrestlers in the WWE today, and he’s one of those guys who just seems so convincing as a champion due to the aura around him. McIntyre makes everyone else look great, such as Roderick Strong and most prominently Almas, but he still manages to come off like a force to be reckoned with.

If I had to take a guess, I would put McIntyre on SmackDown Live. That’s where most of the NXT call-ups go, and the only person he’s already feuded with is Bobby Roode. Raw just has too much star power right now, and I’d like to keep him away from the brand that has Brock Lesnar as Universal Champion, Kurt Angle vs. Triple H as the main feud, and Roman Reigns set to get coronated in a few months.
