WWE Raw 5 Biggest Stars: The Coronation Of Roman Reigns
By Tom Thomas
WWE Raw produced a night of returns, debuts and a title change as Roman Reigns completed his grand slam. Who were the biggest stars from the night?
WWE Raw aired from the Toyota center in Houston this week. The aftermath of Survivor Series opened the show as Kurt Angle, Triple H, Jason Jordan and Braun Strowman were all featured in the opening segment. The segment achieved many things including building up momentum towards Angle’s future collision with Triple H. It also gave way to a match between Jason Jordan and Braun Strowman. It was nice to see the crowd giving Jordan a little pop the moment he challenged Triple H and accused him of being a coward.
Though Jordan didn’t fare well during the match, there were sings of some character progression. However, bigger stories fueled most of the night as the card was filled with surprise returns, surprise debuts and a title change. Paige would make an emphatic return to Monday nights after almost a year away. She was also accompanied by Sonya Deville and Mandy Ross from NXT who put the whole Women’s division on notice. For a moment, when they took out Alexa Bliss, it felt like an alternate version of the Shield had arrived.
The biggest story of the night however is the coronation of Roman Reigns. The Big Dog captured the one title that has eluded him so far. Thus, Reigns completed his grand slam, defeating the Miz to capture the Inter Continental title. The Shield did mention wanting to get the tag titles back. So we will have to wait to see if everyone in the stable holds a gold like the good old days.
Elsewhere, the Cruiserweights battled each other in multi-man tag matches like they always do. Asuka picked up another impressive victory over Dana Brooke and Matt Hardy and Elias apparently are not done with each other. Who were the biggest stars from such a packed show though? Here are my top five picks.
