In the aftermath of Survivor Series, WWE SmackDown worked towards moving past a Survivor Series setback last night with new focus.

WWE SmackDown is back to building its own brand battles and while several feuds are continuing, another possible feud could be in the works.  Last night’s SmackDown saw important debuts as well that will shake up the blue brand in the future.

As SmackDown prepares for the Clash of Champions pay-per-view, the main event for the event is already set in stone.  With that being said, let’s take a look at five key takeaways from the Nov. 21 edition of WWE SmackDown.

5. Shelton Benjamin’s Win Over Jey Uso Builds Momentum for Tag Team Championship Feud

The recently-formed tag team of the returning Shelton Benjamin and Chad Gable has quickly earned the opportunity to challenge The Usos for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship.  And although a previous opportunity at the tag team titles didn’t turn out, another is likely on the horizon.

Benjamin and Gable haven’t had a legitimate tag team title shot yet, but with the Clash of Champions pay-per-view lined up for the blue brand, that all might change.  With the recent perceived double turn by both Benjamin and Gable and The Usos, last night’s SmackDown gave Benjamin and Gable some momentum.

In a one-on-one match with Jey Uso, Benjamin got the win in a short, but effective match after Jimmy Uso and Gable had their own battle on the outside towards the conclusion of the match.  This is Benjamin and Gable’s first real momentum against The Usos and with Survivor Series now out of the way, the WWE should turn its focus to building this feud that has a lot of potential.

Although the match isn’t confirmed yet, last night’s win for Benjamin probably will set up a rematch between the two teams at Clash of Champions in December.  And it’s safe to assume there will be more building done for this feud in the coming weeks leading into the pay-per-view.

The fast-rising tag team of Benjamin and Gable’s momentum from last night should carry over into the next few weeks in their attempt to dethrone the SmackDown Tag Team Champions.
