5 Things WWE Got Right: Samoa Joe Steps Up To Roman Reigns

1 of 6

What are the five moments from WWE Raw and SmackDown Live for which creative deserves a pat on the back?

WWE took a relaxed approach on Monday and a crafty approach on Tuesday this week. This was owing to Raw not having anymore PPVs on the line until Royal Rumble in January. SmackDown on the other hand, had to build towards Clash of Champions without wasting time. This meant a more packed show on Tuesday, that built a ton of momentum for the Blue brand.

However, that does not mean Monday wasn’t action packed. Roman Reigns and Elias delivered an entertaining match with the Intercontinental Title on the line. If every edition of the Roman Reigns IC Title open challenge is going to be as fun as this one, I am all in for him holding on to the title forever.

Braun Strowman returned to take out Kane as a measure of revenge. However, the use of Finn Balor as a means to get Strowman play cavalry was questionable to say the least. And the Women’s division once again felt the wrath of Paige and crew, now collectively knows as the ‘Absolution’. Even Asuka was under threat due to these three women.

Tuesday, though, had more storyline progression and more entertaining segments. Dissension between Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon was more visible this week. Randy Orton and Kevin Owens delivered a great match under No Disqualification rules. Sami Zayn made his mark too.

The Riott Squad continued from where they left the week before. Elsewhere, the Hype Bros imploded with Mojo Rawley taking the dark path. Breezango and Ascension continued to entertain us with the Fashion Files. Amidst all this, which five moments were the best of the lot? Which moments makes the case for creative deserving some praise? Here are my top picks from the week.
