Triple H is the COO of WWE, but the “Cerebral Assassin” remains one of the company’s top competitors. He cemented this as one of the sole survivors as Survivor Series this year, and the man still loves wrestling just as much as he did a decade ago.
There’s no doubt that Triple H is one of the greatest wrestlers to ever step foot inside of a ring, and he’s using his knowledge to help the next generation of talent in WWE. The weekly taped show, NXT, is one of the best-run programs in all of wrestling, and Triple H deserves most of the credit for that.
Outside of the ring, Triple H is hitting a different gear, and it’s getting to the point where many fans are itching for him to take the reigns from Vince McMahon. Meanwhile, “The Game” remains a fierce competitor inside the ring, and his current storyline with Kurt Angle, Jason Jordan, and Braun Strowman is WrestleMania-worthy indeed.
But because Triple H is so successful outside of the ring these days, some may wonder why he still decides to go through the grind of being a wrestler. He’s been on many high-profile live events, wrestled at Survivor Series, and will face former WWE Champion Jinder Mahal in India.
In an interview with ESPN’s Jonathan Selvaraj, Triple H answered the question of why he still wrestles simply. He does it for the love of the game (pun intended).
"“It’s still fun for me. It’s still something I enjoy. And it’s something that I will always enjoy. It’s fun to get out there and remember why you enjoy this in the first place.”"
Even though he didn’t get to do much at Survivor Series and had to watch as many of his former stars in NXT were eliminated all too early, you could easily sense the excitement from him in the ring that night. He clearly loved being out there in front of the crowd, especially since the likes of Finn Balor and Samoa Joe (two of NXT’s biggest stars in the brand’s history) were out there with him.

Triple H will face Jinder Mahal on Saturday, Dec. 9, in New Delhi. It will be interesting to see how the crowd reacts to this match, and I would fully expect Mahal to get the win, especially if the “Modern Day Maharaja” does indeed take another loss to AJ Styles in a WWE Championship match at Clash of Champions on Dec. 17.
