Report: Rob Van Dam’s WWE Career Is Over Due To Concussions

Former WWE Champion Rob Van Dam, sadly, won’t be returning to WWE to wrestle ever again.

As first reported on The Blast, Van Dam is currently settling an on-going divorce with his wife Sonia. During the course of the divorce, the former ECW Champion has been forced to reveal certain aspects of his life – including wrestling related information.

The main bit of info came from RVD, where he stated that a concussion he suffered while in the ring left him with an injury that now disqualifies him from working with his former company. Van Dam also claims that because he is not able to work with WWE, he’s taken a big hit financially.

On November 12, 2016, RVD claims that he suffered a concussion that “caused visual impairment” and has “disqualified me from working for the WWE.” (H/T: The Blast)

Below is the match that RVD suffered the concussion, wrestling for ‘PCW’.

In addition to this, The Whole Damn Show included WWE’s Concussion Management Program protocol, as well as a medical evaluation from earlier in the year confirming his concussion, during the divorce procedure.

What’s more, his merchandise deal with WWE expired four months ago, according to Van Dam; with June marking his last month of royalties.

All in all, it’s safe to say that this court battle is getting ugly. Second of all, it’s a real shame to see RVD literally on his ‘last legs’; not able to wrestle, and not able to earn a living through WWE. I, for one, will always be a fan of seeing RVD come back for “one last run”, like he did a few years ago, and was hoping next year to see him in the Royal Rumble. However, this clearly won’t be the case.

Hopefully, WWE can come to an agreement with RVD, potentially giving him a Legends Contract, which will keep him through tough times financially.
