The final WWE pay-per-view of the year is less than a week away as the SmackDown brand prepares for WWE Clash of Champions 2017.
WWE Clash of Champions 2017 will see several key storylines on SmackDown come to light in a pay-per-view that could drastically shake up the future of Tuesday nights. The card is likely not set in stone completely yet, but it already offers some intriguing battles.
There are several noteworthy matches, but which superstars need to win the most at Clash of Champions? Whether it’s storyline purposes or selfish fan purposes, here are the three superstars that need a win the most at WWE Clash of Champions 2017.
3. Baron Corbin
The Lone Wolf Baron Corbin has been one of the most controversial superstars in the WWE over the past several months whether it’s his on-screen character or his real-life character. But Corbin got a big break of sorts by winning the United States Championship a couple months ago.
He’s had an up and down U.S. Championship reign, but since moving past now WWE Champion AJ Styles, Corbin has been entangled in a feud with The Glorious Bobby Roode. It seemed like a no-brainer that Corbin and Roode would meet at Clash of Champions, but another piece of the puzzle was added to the equation in Dolph Ziggler.
Ziggler’s career is at a crossroads at this point, so his inclusion in the match seemed random and out of place. But The Showoff has proven to be a very talented performer over the years and more can be expected out of him in this match. Roode seems destined to be the next U.S. Champion whenever that time comes, but it shouldn’t be at Clash of Champions.
Corbin needs to retain his title at Clash of Champions for one simple reason, to sweeten the deal when Roode does win the title from him. Corbin and Roode could have a solid feud if treated the right way and with all due respect to an all-time great performer in Ziggler, having The Showoff in the picture takes away from the potential Corbin vs. Roode has.
The Lone Wolf needs a better chance to shine as the U.S. Champion and needs to retain his championship at the Clash of Champions.
