WWE Raw: Cedric Alexander’s Second Chance is a Long Time Coming

Cedric Alexander reminded fans just how talented he when he won the Second Chance Fatal Four Way match this past week on WWE Raw.

When the Cruiserweight Classic took place in the summer of 2016, many fans were excited to see Alexander participate in the event.  Coming from Ring of Honor, fans were familiar with Alexander’s talent and the style he brings with him.  Alexander advanced to Round Two of the Classic in which he put on a classic bout with Kota Ibushi.  Ibushi scored the victory, however Alexander earned the respect of fans and caught the attention of WWE’s Triple H.

In one of the Classic’s top moments, Alexander was in tears as Triple H would come out to acknowledge the fans chanting to sign him.  Alexander was signed and has been a part of the Cruiserweight Division since.  As the one to watch, he had engaged in a feud with Noam Dar that saw Alicia Fox in between the two.  However, Alexander was sidelined with a knee injury earlier this year that put him out for some time.

With that quick review of past history, until this week it seemed that Alexander was not in the forefront of the Cruiserweight Division.  Of course, his untimely injury didn’t do any favors in hopes of seeing promising growth.  However, it was unjust that one of the Cruiserweight Classic’s biggest stars would just simply fade away.  Considering the additions of Kalisto and Enzo Amore, the future of Alexander was in question for fans.

Rich Swann has more or less opened the door for Alexander.  Swann has found himself in legal trouble followed with an indefinite suspension from WWE.  Even though the Cruiserweight Division has lost one of its most popular and charismatic Superstars, this ultimately allowed Alexander to take full advantage of the opening spot Swann has left behind.  It’s a great thing for Alexander to be able to prove to fans and peers that he is more than capable of being a huge part of the Cruiserweight Division.

The division has picked up steam recently thanks to the ring action and more attention towards the characters such as Drew Gulak.  The Second Chance Fatal Four Way match this past Monday on Raw was a show-stealer, with Alexander at the forefront of the match.  With the story being told as opportunity comes knocking, all four men put forth their best efforts in hopes to be one step closer to the Cruiserweight Championship.  Alexander’s heart and drive was clearly seen as fans cheered him onto victory.

With Alexander’s victory comes a revival of sorts for him.  With his past experience, he knows how to wow a crowd and become the WWE Superstar that fans know that he can be.  The fans’ support behind Alexander hasn’t fallen on deaf ears, and he has earned the respect in the ring.  While every success story takes time to play out, perhaps Alexander is only just getting started in the Cruiserweight Division.

The pressure is on for Alexander to take the push/opportunity he has been given and make the most of it.  Alexander’s star has been dormant for some time, but now it’s the perfect time to show everyone what he is made of.  He did it at the Cruiserweight Classic, and stole the show the past Monday on Raw.  Fans know Alexander is a Superstar in the making; it’s for certain that he will have no problem seeing that through.
