NJPW WK12: Chris Jericho vs. Kenny Omega Will Be No DQ
Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega are ready to light the pro wrestling world on fire at NJPW’s Wrestle Kingdom 12, and the match has a stipulation that should add even more excitement to the proceedings.
Right now, the biggest story in professional wrestling is the scheduled NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 12 bout between Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega for the IWGP United States Championship, pitting a WWE icon in Y2J against the leader of the Bullet Club himself.
So far, the build-up has been fantastic. Jericho’s dropped an f-bomb, we’ve had a few assaults, there’s been a thrown table, and Y2J even has a new “Alpha Club” T-Shirt for us. Both wrestlers have been on-point with their respective social media games, with Jericho even getting IWGP Heavyweight Champion hopeful Tetsuya Naito “arguing” over the main event spot at WK12.
NJPW has furthered the hype by announcing that Jericho and Omega will be competing in a “No DQ” match at WK12.
NJPW usually doesn’t like to go this hardcore for their matches, since they like to maintain a family-friendly product. But they surely recognize how much value an edgier feud provides, especially given that Jericho is in his element. Beyond that, this is the type of stipulation that Omega can thrive in as well, since the Bullet Club leader and United States Champion loves going all-out.
A no disqualification match also opens up the possibility for interference and a second match between these two. I know it sounds crazy, but nobody has ruled out the chances of this being a one-off affair.
