Mojo Rawley and Zack Ryder put on a solid match at WWE Clash of Champions, and an unsurprising push should be in line for Rawley.
Some fans criticized WWE Clash of Champions for lacking a proper build for all of its matches, as some of the bouts simply seemed “there”. But you can’t criticize the kick-off match between former Hype Bros members Zack Ryder and Mojo Rawley for, well, lacking hype, because they went all-out on social media.
According to Cageside Seats’s “Rumor Roundup”, the word on the street is that Mojo’s promos were so impressive that they “could” lead to a fabled mid-card push. Currently, Dolph Ziggler is the United States Champion after defeating Baron Corbin and Bobby Roode at Clash of Champions, but who knows how long he’ll hold the title? And who knows how long he’ll stay as a heel, since fans seem more inclined to cheer than boo the long-time cult favorite?
In any case, Mojo’s future is bright, and the reigns are off now that he’s a heel. Rawley has always been known for his energy and positive spirit in real life, but being a heel has allowed him to let his talent shine. Plus, he had reason to beef with Ryder and showed it, calling the “Broski” dead weight and glossing over Ryder’s past accomplishments in WWE.
Rawley won the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal and is buddies with Rob Gronkowski, so nobody would have been surprised to see a big push regardless of the quality of his promos. But because Mojo knocked those impromptu videos out of the park, it seems like the WWE should be even higher on the former NFL player’s potential as a mid-card heel.
