2. Fatal Four-Way At SummerSlam

The WWE tried to pull a fast one on its fans, drumming up interest in this match by proclaiming that Lesnar would leave the company if he lost the Universal Title in the Fatal Four-Way at SummerSlam.

Spoiler alert: Lesnar didn’t jump to the UFC, as he won the hard-fought match by hitting Roman Reigns with an F5 when they were the only two left in the ring.

An important caveat with this match is that it ranks so high because Lesnar didn’t have to compete for the entirety of it. He was stretchered off to the back after being slammed through two announce tables by Braun Strowman, and these table spots followed a spear through the barricade by Reigns. The crowd chanted “goodbye” at Lesnar, and it seemed like he would actually lose the title and leave for the UFC.

Again, that didn’t happen, because Lesnar made a triumphant return to the ring after Strowman, Joe, and Reigns all shined in the main event by doing serious damage on each other. Strowman, in particular, looked like the top guy in the company, and he was easily the MVP of the match.

However, when Lesnar returned, he immediately sought revenge on Strowman. Reigns also started to get hot, hitting spears and superman punches all over the place before finally getting hit by an F5.

Lesnar’s move ended one of the best matches of the year and completed a successful title defense “against the odds”. The Beast is at his best when he gets a chance to catch his breath during a match, but the reason why this match isn’t No. 1 is the fact that it wasn’t all Lesnar.
