WWE Raw: 3 Superstar Segments That Must Happen at 25th Anniversary Show
By Sarah Hirsch
It may be the silver anniversary for WWE’s Monday Night Raw, but these segments can be gold.
It is hard to believe that we are coming upon the 25th anniversary of Monday Night Raw. It seems like yesterday that I tuned in to Raw’s 10th, 15th and 20th anniversary shows. Which, thinking about that makes me realize how I am getting much older. However, you’re not reading this to feel bad about age, right?
Anyway, for so many years, Raw was the show to watch and the place to be. Raw thrived in its best days during the Monday Night Wars and was home to many, many iconic moments in WWE history. Superstars such as Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Undertaker, The Rock, and John Cena have made the show into what it is today. While Raw has struggled here and there over the years, the idea of its allure and hope of more big moments continuously draws fans in. The moment makers are what kept its longevity going to which again, there have been so many moments that stand out over time.
So much has changed since Raw’s inception in 1993. There are many Superstars who have come and gone, but there are some familiar faces that are still around. WWE is well into this new era they have been touting since last summer, so it’s only right that there’s a bridge between the past and the present through the show. Whether something more comes out of these segments, or it’s just a once in a lifetime moment to take advantage of, the 25th anniversary of Raw is something to be celebrated especially if the opportunity presents themselves.
The best thing about the 25th anniversary of Raw is that we are in Royal Rumble season. With the monumental announcement of a first-ever Women’s Royal Rumble, perhaps the show can serve as a legend making her announcement to participate. This is a key event going into the Rumble in Philadelphia so every moment leading up to the show counts when it comes to the women. More than likely there will be other announcements of Superstars stating their intentions to compete in the Royal Rumble match as well.
With The Undertaker confirmed to be at the show, fans will be anticipating what will come out of his appearance. His last appearance for WWE was at WrestleMania 33, where he was defeated by Roman Reigns following with an all but said symbolic reference that he was retiring. Will he confirm or deny that instance is the question fans are on the edge of their seats about.
Also, we can’t forget about today’s Superstars. Antagonists worth mentioning include Elias, The Miztourage and Curt Hawkins. With Jason Jordan, the subtle angle of him trying to make a spot on Raw has been bubbling for weeks. That could come to a head with the 25th anniversary show; with various legends in the mix on the show a beat down will gives fans much satisfaction regardless of who the recipient is.
This is the purpose of this piece to pinpoint what segments could happen to make this anniversary show stand out among the past ones. January is perhaps one of the most exciting months for WWE fans because of the road to WrestleMania in addition to many scenarios that are dreamed up for that one outstanding moment en route to New Orleans. This year is exceptionally promising because of everything that is currently going on in the pro wrestling world.
So, what are three segments that should happen at this particular show? Call it throwbacks with a mix of new. Again there is no better time than to bridge the past and the present together for WWE. And with an outside link to bigger moments for pro wrestling in general, the possibilities are even more grandeur. The following Superstars would be a great lead in a segment for the 25th anniversary show. Let’s get our brains going and dream up what could possibly be starting now.
