WWE Royal Rumble 2018: The Case For Becky Lynch
Asuka, Paige, and Ronda Rousey seem like the favorites to win the first women’s Rumble at WWE Royal Rumble 2018, but maybe more people should consider Becky Lynch as an option to win the historic event.
Becky Lynch became the first ever SmackDown Women’s Champion at Backlash 2016, eliminating Carmella at the end of a Six-Pack Challenge to capture gold. She would hold the title briefly before dropping it to Alexa Bliss at TLC, and it never seemed like Becky had much of a chance to shine at the top of the women’s division on SmackDown Live.
In 2017, Becky was never the SmackDown Women’s Champion, and she was only featured in the championship picture briefly. After Alexa Bliss moved on to Raw, her only feud of note was against Carmella and James Ellsworth. There were some entertaining moments, but Becky’s been booked as a superstar who is just kind of “there”, instead of one of the most popular and believable babyfaces on either brand.
At WWE Royal Rumble 2018, Becky would be a great candidate to win the first ever women’s Rumble match, and here are four reasons why. I understand that the winner will likely come from Raw or will be someone who is booked as being more dominant, but hopefully this piece shows that Lynch winning the Royal Rumble would be an excellent story.
