WWE Rumors: Triple H’s Dinner With Ronda Rousey Was For Publicity

Triple H recently took former UFC star Ronda Rousey out of for dinner, furthering the speculation that is WWE-bound. A recent report states that the dinner was simply for publicity.

The rumor of Ronda Rousey coming to WWE has been mainstream news to put it lightly. When the news first broke that she wanted to switch from MMA to professional wrestling, the news media – especially those in the MMA world – ate it all up.

However, recently, there hasn’t been all that much to report on. And some have even speculated that the deal to bring Rousey in has simply passed. Conversely, and much more believably, there’s also reports on the former Women’s Bantamweight champion and WWE ‘dotting the i’s and cross the t’s’, with Rousey obviously wanting the best deal possible.

Recently, it seems, one way of ‘dotting the i’s and cross the t’s’ for WWE and Rowdy was through a dinner shared by Triple H and the former UFC powerhouse, which was first reported by TMZ.

According to the report, Triple H missed the SmackDown Live show in Alabama, just to attend the dinner with Rousey; which, if you know Triple H well, is a rarity. This implies the dinner was of much importance to “The Game”, and subsequently, the WWE.

However, as much as the dinner was important, according The Wrestling Observer (H/T: CageSideSeats’ Rumor Roundup), so was the publicity from having the dinner/meeting in the first place. According to Dave Meltzer (Observer), WWE knew that having Triple H meeting Rousey again would cause a whole lot more discussion, and more articles published on the matter (like I’m doing right now). It was a PR move. And a smart one.

Should it really come as a surprise that WWE are looking for publicity, especially in regards to Rousey? Of course not. One of the main reasons she’s coming in is to generate publicity for WWE, so this honestly shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone.

Currently, details on hRousey appearing in the Women’s Royal Rumble match are limited; with some reports being up in the air about the matter.
